Norway's Tormod Frostad won gold in the men's freestyle skiing big air final at the Olympics on Tuesday, unseating compatriot and defending champion Birk Ruud who only managed eighth place in an exceptionally high-scoring nail-biter.

LIVIGNO, Italy (AP) — The difference between silver and gold in Olympic men's big air was a matter of who did a trick called a “nose butter” better. The fact anyone can do it at all was only one of the amazing things to come out of a contest that will be long remembered by anyone who saw it.

Mac Forehand, a two-time Olympic freestyle skier who grew up in Fairfield, Conn., was disappointed with his results in the Olympic slopestyle competition last week. But Tuesday, Forehand, 24, made up for that disappointment with a silver medal in the Big Air competition at the Livigno Snow Park in Italy.
